Asoka Health Benefits

The Asoka tree can be used to treat diabetes, abdominal pain, piles and uterine disorder. The Ashoka is an evergreen tree, prized for its beautiful foliage and fragrant flowers. It has many folklore associated with it and there are references to this tree in many of the Buddhist and Hindu writings.

Ashoka Medicinal Properties

The Ashoka bark is an astringent, sweeet, refrigerant, anthelmintic, styptic, demulcent and febrifuge. The flowers are an uterine tonic and the leaves are depurative. In clinical studies, it has shown to have a stimulating effect on the endometrium and ovarian tissue.

Asoka Home Remedies

It is used to treat the following conditions:

  • Uterine Disorders

    It is a reputed uterine tonic especially useful in excessive or irregular bleeding, fibroids or white discharge.
    Boil 2 tsp of the bark powder in 2 glasses of water until the water has reduced by one quarter. Take and ounce of this filtered and concentrated decoction mixed with honey twice a day.
  • Pimples

    Apply a mixture made from powdered Asoka, lime juice and milk.
  • Piles

    Consume a decoction made from the Asoka bark.
  • Abdominal Pain

    Add powdered cumin seeds to an Asoka leaf decoction and consume it.
  • Burning sensation and inflammation

    The Asoka bark decoction can be applied externally and consumed internally to relieve burning sensations and inflammation within or on the surface.
  • Diabetes
