Bael Health Benefits
Bael is an ideal home remedy for abscess, piles, diarrhea, body odour, vomiting. It is used in religious rituals and as an important Ayurvedic remedy.
Bael Origin
Aegle or Bael is a tree indigenous to Asia and grows up to 18 meters tall and bears thorns and fragrant flowers. The bael fruit has numerous seeds, which are densely covered with fibrous hairs and are embedded in a thick, gluey, aromatic pulp.
Bael Medicinal Properties
The Bael leaves are astringent, laxative, febrifuge and expectorant. The roots are an astringent and a febrifuge. The unripe fruits are an astringent, digestive and stomachic. The ripe fruits are astringent, aromatic, cooling, febrifuge, laxative and tonic.
Bael Home Remedies
It is used to treat the following conditions:
Abscess
Grind the leaves and apply on the abscess, this will reduce the inflammation.Piles
Consumption of the fruit pulp mixed with buttermilk arrests the bleeding associated with piles. Applying a decoction of the root powder on the pile mass shrinks it gradually.Diarrhoea
Ground bael fruit mixed with buttermilk and sesame seeds is an excellent remedy for diarrhea.Bloody Stools
Powder dried bael fruit along with fennel(saunph) and mix it with honey. Consume this mixture and wash it down with rice gruel (kanji).Foul body odor
The juice from the bael leaves acts as an astringent and closes the sweat pores that produces excessive sweat and bad odor.Vomiting
A decoction of bael root powder consumed with honey suppresses the nausea.Colic pain
Consume dried bael powder mixed with honey to quieten down an upset stomach.Typhoid
Take a tsp of dried bael pulp to bring down the temperature.
