Bamboo Health Benefits

The Bamboo tree is a perennial evergreen and one of the fastest growing plants in the world. The bamboo shoots are very popular in Asian cuisine. Medicinally, it is used for treating intestinal worms, diarrhoea, mouth ulcers and eye inflammation.

Bamboo Medicinal Properties

The bamboo roots are cooling, laxative, diuretic and tonic. The leaves are cooling emmenagogue and vulnerary febrifuge. The sprouts are laxative, thermogenic, anti-inflammatory, digestive, carminative, anthelmentic and diuretic. The grains are tonic, aphrodisiac and anthelmentic.

We use another component in the Bamboo shrub and it is the "Bamboo Manna". It is the dried sugar like granules that occur as the siliceous secretion in the internodes of the stems. It is expectorant, diuretic, haemostatic, aphrodisiac and febrifuge.

Bamboo Home Remedies

It is used to treat the following conditions:

  • Intestinal Worms

    Powdered mixture of bamboo manna and cumin seeds help in expelling the worms.
  • Diarrhoea

    The organic salts present in bamboo make it an effective anti-diarrhoeal.
  • Scanty Urination

    Bamboo root decoction acts as a diuretic and helps with this ailment.
  • Mouth Ulcers

    Apply ground bamboo manna to aid with this condition.
  • Piles

    Soak the pile mass in a bamboo leaf decoction and this will gradually shrink it.
  • Eye Inflammations

    Apply a few drops of bamboo root decoction to reduce the inflammation.
  • Bleeding Disorders

    Consume a powdered mixture of bamboo manna and some saumph seeds.
